These features aren’t just nice to have — they’re what make the system work. They support transparency, track ownership, and make grading smarter with every comic submitted.

The Deed Maps Image Collector app makes capturing submission images fast and intuitive. With built-in bounding box guides and prompts for proper angles and lighting, it helps you get it right the first time—without slowing you down.
Submitting through the Deed Maps Image Collector helps prevent stolen or fake images by linking uploads directly to the capture process—building a more secure and trustworthy community.

Each submission receives an AI-generated grade, along with a summary of key defects, powered by our custom grading model, the Comic Oracle. Using machine learning, it analyzes your comic's visual details, historical data, and real-world grading examples to generate the grade. Since it’s still learning, the grade might not always be perfect. If it seems off, simply click Self Grade to make adjustments.
When you correct a grade, you’re not just fine-tuning your own comic—you’re helping improve the Oracle, our custom grading model. Your feedback teaches it to spot subtle defects and sharpen accuracy for future submissions. The more the community engages, the smarter the Oracle gets.

When the community weighs in, every grade gains credibility. Voting and suggested corrections help refine the results, ensuring the final grade reflects a shared, trusted standard—one that collectors can stand behind. Simply click Accept or Reject to cast your vote.
Every vote and correction helps improve The Oracle, spotting grading patterns and continuously sharpening accuracy with each submission.

Available for slabbed books as well
Choose between short-term renewable cloud storage or permanent archiving on the permaweb. Both options store grading details, high-resolution images, and ownership history—so your comic’s full story is always preserved.
Every stored comic creates a verifiable chain of ownership. With permanent storage and a linked NFT, that proof becomes even stronger—and lasts for good. It’s a reliable way to confirm ownership in private sales, disputes, or insurance claims. Plus, with the NFT tied to your comic, you can showcase its pedigree—or start a modern version of your own. It offers not just proof, but a new way to demonstrate the value of your collection.

To keep the platform safe and fair, we rely on both AI and the community. AI monitors for suspicious behavior, while users help by flagging abuse. A bounty program rewards those who spot issues. Together, AI and the community ensure a trusted environment for everyone.
Buyers and sellers can message each other directly, with all conversations lightly reviewed by AI to keep interactions respectful. By listing your comic on the platform, you can gauge interest from potential buyers, even if you're not actively looking to sell. To build trust, buyers can request a timed ownership check to confirm the seller actually owns the comic before making a deal.

Paid grading will open based on the number of Graders in the system so spread the word to others. Start your training today!
Every time someone views your comic’s grade, key defects, and high-resolution images, you earn. A portion of the viewing fee is paid directly to you in CARTO tokens. These are digital credits—like gaming tokens—that can be used within the platform for features and rewards. Your collection keeps earning for you.
For comic owners who’d rather rely on a trusted group of expert graders, we’re introducing Paid Grading. As you participate in community voting and build a record of accurate grading, you can rise through the ranks and get paid to grade comics for others. All paid graders are required to complete our training, which covers how to use our grading tools, document defects consistently, and apply standards with minimal bias. System performance checks help ensure that every paid grade is accurate, consistent, and delivered on time. Paid Grading will launch once there’s a strong pool of trained and qualified graders.

Targeted for slabbed comics and grounded in real collector perception, the Visual Influence Score (VIS) captures qualities that numbers alone can’t — the shared sense of eye appeal that drives market desirability.
While professional grading carries significant value, community-powered attributes such as the Visual Influence Score (VIS) are your comic’s visual reputation in the market. A high VIS shows collectors that your copy’s eye appeal stands out — and could command premium interest.
Whether you're submitting comics or just browsing, every user receives something valuable.

Collection Browsing and Messaging
Browse Comic Collections (Atlas View): Explore public collections in a visual grid with standard-resolution images, titles, grades, and main defects.
View Comic Details (Detail View): View high-res images, full grading details, and ownership history. Includes 10 free views/month; more available for a fee. Owners earn digital credits (CARTO tokens) when viewers access Detail View.
Message Comic Owners: Contact owners directly (if messaging is enabled by the owner) to ask questions or express interest. Available within the Detail View.
Comic Grading
Receive AI Grade (Comic Oracle™): Receive an AI-generated grade and defect summary soon after uploading via the Image Collector App, providing an initial estimate of your comic’s condition.
Learn and Grade Your Own Comics: Use guided tools to assess your comic’s condition and assign a grade — while learning how different defects impact value. Need help along the way? Our built-in Chat helps guide you through the grading process, offering insight into how defects affect your comic’s grade — with more interactive features on the way.
Submit for Community Grading: Share your comic with the community to help refine its grade and build trust in its condition. Your submission also contributes to more accurate grading across the platform. See “Grade Other Comics” to learn how the process works.
Grade Other Comics (Community Grading): Vote or suggest corrections to other comics' grades directly from their Detail View. A set number of votes are needed before a grade is updated, and input is reviewed using a statistical approach to help ensure accuracy and consistency. This helps keep results unbiased and improves the Comic Oracle™ AI model over time.
Collection Management & Ownership
Catalog Your Collection: Upload through the Image Collector App, then organize your comics with flexible visibility and storage settings.
Store on Cloud or Permaweb: Choose between short-term cloud storage or long-term storage (Permaweb). You can upgrade anytime.
Public Ownership Record: Comics stored on the Permaweb provide a blockchain-based history of their details and ownership lineage. This creates a long-term record of provenance—useful for verifying ownership and condition, facilitating sales, or supporting insurance claims.
TCO ID Lookup: Every comic receives a searchable TCO ID that links directly to its full grading details. Share it in forums or marketplaces without re-uploading info. It saves you time and adds trust for potential buyers.
Ownership Record Transfer: After an agreed upon exchange, viewers can request to transfer the comic’s digital ownership record from the Detail View. When the transfer completes, the new owner then receives 10 days of free storage to choose a storage plan. The digital record is only updated once the new owner proves they have the physical comic by uploading fresh images using the Deed Maps Image Collector App. Assuming the new owner chooses the Permaweb storage option, an additional version of the NFT is minted so that the original owner has v1 and the new owner v2.
Rewards & Security
Earn from Comic Views: Owners earn 25% of the CARTO token fee each time someone views their comic’s high-resolution images and grading details. Tokens can be used across the platform.
Flag Suspicious Activity: Report fake images, grading abuse, or scams from within the Detail View. Verified reports can earn rewards.
Future Paid Grading Program: Build your rank, sharpen your expertise, and get paid for your skills. This option is ideal for owners seeking a trusted expert grade or who want to skip community voting altogether. Coming soon once we build a solid base of top community graders.
* Features may include a fee or require Carto tokens, depending on your activity (as a viewer or owner) and your storage preferences. For full details, see our Pricing.
When you choose the Elite (Permaweb) Package, your comic receives a versioned NFT — a digital marker representing an ownership change. Each version (v1, v2, etc.) captures a snapshot of the comic, including high-resolution images captured through the Deed Maps Image Collector App, the AI-generated grade, and a summary of key defects. These details are stored long-term on the Permaweb and directly referenced by the NFT. That means anyone — not just Comic Oracle members — can verify the comic’s condition and ownership history.
This is especially valuable for high-value books, where grade accuracy, restoration status, and verified photos are essential. For example, if a comic is restored between owners, the change in condition may show up in a new version, helping future collectors see what was done. This kind of historical visibility makes it harder for scammers to misrepresent a comic’s condition or deceive buyers in online marketplaces. It adds transparency, trust, and a layer of accountability that traditional grading alone can’t provide.
Think of the Permaweb + NFT like a digital “I once owned this” badge — a lasting record tied to your comic as it moves from collector to collector. While this doesn’t represent legal ownership of the physical comic, it does preserve the comic’s condition and ownership history at the time of each transfer — creating a trustworthy, verifiable chain of records.

First Appearance NFT (Limited to 500)

We’re rolling out new tools to help you better understand comic grading — and they’re already available to try. These features are still being refined, so your feedback can help shape what comes next.

Currently available for spine stress lines only, we’re previewing a new tool on the Detail View's Calculator tab that helps you visually determine a defect's severity. Using simple drawing tools and defect attributes such as Color Breaking, you will have the ability to visually annotate the location of defects. Once the defects are annotated, the correct severity level will be set. Based on feedback from collectors, we’ll decide if and how to expand it to cover more defects.

This grading assistant appears directly in the Detail View of your comic submission. It guides you through a series of questions about possible defects and updates the estimated grade range in real time. As you go, it also shows you example images of different defect severities — making it easier to learn and sharpen your skills. More interactive features are planned as we continue testing and refining the experience.
Every comic submitted to Comic Oracle receives a unique TCO ID (short for The Comic Oracle ID) — essentially a tracking number for your comic. If you're listing your comic on another platform or forum, you can share this ID so potential buyers can look it up on Comic Oracle and view high-resolution images, an AI-generated grade accepted by the community, a summary of key defects, and ownership history.
If your comic is stored on the Permaweb through the Elite package, anyone — even outside the platform — can look up the TCO ID and access the comic’s full details, no login needed. For other storage options, the owner must enable external viewing manually and external views will then be deducted from the owner's allotted view count.
Think of the TCO ID like a VIN number for your comic, and Comic Oracle as the Carfax for collectors — giving buyers a trusted way to verify condition and history before making a purchase.
Comic Oracle’s pricing is built for collectors — simple, transparent, and flexible. There are no subscriptions or hidden fees, just a pay-as-you-go system powered by CARTO (⌖) tokens. You only spend tokens on features that have a cost (such as submitting a comic).
Free Features: When you join, you automatically get access to these features at no cost (no tokens required): Browse other collectors’ comics using Global Search, communicate directly with other collectors through the Messages console, grade your own comics while learning about grading using the Oracle Chat.
During our launch, you’ll get even more value, including free submission of your slabbed comics and 75 free tokens.

What are CARTO (⌖) tokens?
CARTO tokens are the digital credits used throughout Comic Oracle — for viewing detailed comic info, submitting your books, or storing them. Think of them like arcade credits or a gift card balance: load them up and use them at your own pace.
How do I get CARTO (⌖) tokens?
Tokens are available exclusively through Deed Maps. While CARTO tokens are a real token on the Solana blockchain, you do not need to understand anything about cryptocurrencies to use CARTO tokens.
How many CARTO (⌖) tokens do I need?
It depends on whether you're using Comic Oracle as a Viewer, an Owner, or both. Creating an account is free and lets you browse standard-resolution images. To view a comic's high-resolution images and condition details, message owners, get your comics stored or graded, or simply learn and participate in grading, you'll need tokens. You start by buying 500 tokens and simply maintain a balance of 250 to continue using these features.
Tokens need for Viewers
If you're mainly browsing, you'll use tokens to open a comic’s Detail View (see Features for what's included). Each view costs 2 tokens, but your first 10 views each month are free, and you can revisit any comic up to 4 more times within 7 days at no extra cost.
Example:
1) You view 25 comic Detail Views in a month — checking high-res images, reviewing grades and defect summaries, browsing ownership history, voting on grades, and even messaging an owner about a comic you're interested in.
2) You get 10 free Detail Views each month, so the other 15 cost 2 tokens each — that’s 30 tokens total in that month.
3) Say your starting CARTO balance was 1000, the 30 tokens come out of that balance leaving you with 970 tokens.
Tokens need for Owners
If you're an Owner, you’ll use tokens to access a range of features (see Features section for full details). Each comic has a fixed token cost based on the storage and visibility package you choose.
Example:
1) 10 comics using the Basic package → 10 × 15 tokens = 150 tokens
2) 10 comics using the Standard package → 10 × 30 tokens = 300 tokens
3) 1 comic using the Elite package → 1 × 500 tokens = 500 tokens
4) Total: 950 tokens
5) Say your starting CARTO balance was 1000 and you have not used any tokens for browsing, the 950 tokens come out of that balance leaving you with 50 tokens.
Which Package is best for Your Comic?
Choose the package that fits your comic based on how long you want it stored and how visible you want it to be. All packages include a TCO ID for easy sharing, and you can upgrade anytime to a higher tier for more visibility or longer-term storage.
With the Elite Package, even people outside Comic Oracle — like those on marketplaces or forums — can look up your comic’s TCO ID and view all details, no login required. It’s great for transparency when selling. For Basic to Premium Packages, TCO ID lookups are limited to Comic Oracle members only.
